The Manager of our Cellular Therapeutics Laboratory oversees the cell processing activities in support of both standard of care hematopoietic cell transplant and translational clinical trials using human cells as therapeutic agents. Responsibilities include standard cell processing activities such as washing, RBC and/or plasma depletion and cryopreservation and thawing under clinical conditions, and may include genetic modification of stem cells, myeloid cells and cells of the immune system, modification of grafts for both autologous and allogeneic transplant, and culturing of cells preparatory to their therapeutic use. Under the oversight of the Director of the cellular therapeutics facility, the manager organizes the training, assignment and monitoring of personnel to perform the above activities, as well as directly supervises cell processing staff when they are engaged in work on these products. Ensures adequate supplies of necessary materials for cell processing activities are on hand and within manufacturers specified expiration dates, as well as ensuring that necessary equipment is available and in working order. Maintains compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, including those of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (GLP, cGMP and cGTP), AABB, CAP and FACT. Interacts with process development and quality management personnel, as well as principal and collaborating investigators running cellular therapy involved clinical trials.

Minimum Education:

Master's degree in a related field required.

PhD preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Ten (10) years of experience including handling of cells using large scale methods, stringent aseptic technique, methods development, and cell processing in a cGMP/cGTP environment.

Management and budget experience required.
