Summary/Scope

·          The aim of this 2 year post-doctoral position is to investigate protein structural features critical to protein-protein recognition for complexes of high clinical value. The candidate will generate therapeutic hypotheses for the development of innovative therapies.

 

The position requires a PhD in biophysics, computational biology or computational chemistry and graduate work should include extensive experience with Rosetta or similar packages, particularly in the areas of docking proteins, ligands, and loop modeling. The user should feel comfortable using PyRosetta and ResettaScripts for setting up calculations and be adept in the use of Rosetta movers, filters and TaskOperations. He/she will need to be comfortable performing analyses with large data sets and should have demonstrated capability to perform integrated analysis of various data types mainly from protein structure x-ray and modeling data.

 

After successful completion of this post-doc, the candidate will be prepared to integrate into biotech/pharma research as a computational biology expert.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:


1.     Thoroughly mine internal and published data sources and develop predictive algorithms for finding new candidate drug targets.

2.     Act as an independent scientist with a high level of understanding of protein biophysics leading to publication quality work.

3.     Collaborate closely with our biochemistry, bioinformatics, computational chemistry, and x-ray teams and will gain expertise by interactions with the drug discovery team.

Qualifications

The position requires a PhD in biophysics, computational biology or computational chemistry. 



Skills/Knowledge Required :

 

§   Working knowledge of state-of-the-art computational biology and protein modeling tools.

§   Proficient with UNIX.

§   Working knowledge of scripting language (e.g. Perl, Python), R/Matlab.

§   Experience with high performance computing and/or cloud computing.

§   Demonstrated ability for deep and creative thinking.

§   Highly motivated, innovative and strong team player able to function with a high degree of independence.

§   Excellent time management and organizational skills.

§   Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
