Scientific Communications Officer - London

A fantastic opportunity as arisen for a Scientific Engagement Administrator to work with the 100,000 Genomes Project in Central London. The project is the most unique and largest genome sequencing project in the world. This is a superb opportunity to join a genomics movement that will likely change the face of healthcare.

The company are seeking a highly motivated research professional to manage and support a an online community / database of researchers and NHS experts. This community are given free access to the dataset of whole genome sequences and associated clinical data resulting out of the 100,000 Genome Project. Reporting into the Deputy Chief Scientist and Director of Public Health, the role will focus on creating an engagement strategy for this research community and maintaining the online collaborative environment. The successful candidate is expected to be highly creative, and motivated to develop the collaborative platform into a central communication tool for the scientific community. Key responsibilities will include:

-Developing the platforms content and functionality.
-Drafting and commissioning engaging content across a range of media formats such as written materials, graphics and newsletters.
-Developing an online communication strategy for the community which will benefit internal communications and external parties who are looking to contact researchers.
-Developing an administrative process to monitor and report on the progress of research.
-Take a leading role in organising an annual scientific conference and other events/workshops.

To be considered for this opportunity candidates must be educated to BSc level. Previous experience within the genomics/genetics fields would be ideal but is not essential. Candidates will have an administrator or communications background. Other skills and experience:

-Experience of liaising, networking and communicating with researchers and thought leaders at all levels. Previous experience of working within a large virtual community would be regarded.
-Strong IT skills including high proficiency in Microsoft Office.
-Experience of organising meetings, conferences or scientific events is desirable.
-Previous experience of developing or updating websites would be ideal.
