A Health and Safety (HSE, EH&S SHE) Officer is urgently required support the SHE Manager with the main focus of the job on the day to day management of Health & Safety.  As health and safety officer you will be required to help to maintain the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures and assist with devising and implementing safety monitoring / auditing & training systems.  As health and safety officer you will also provide support to other departments across the site in maintaining accurate records and assisting in document control and provide input on Health & Safety matters within Technical, Procedural and Working Practice forums.  This is a COMAH site.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Devising and implementing training programmes to ensure that all employees are aware of good safety practices and receive suitable on the job training for Health & Safety
  • Providing advice and input on Health & Safety matters to all staff as required.
  • Perform regular site audits and inspections as detailed within the Site SHEMS system.
  • Implementing and supporting best practice in hazard identification, risk assessment and accident / incident investigation.
  • Maintain and analyse records of inspections, audits and accident reporting and liaise with the Training Co-coordinator and HR Department to ensure accurate training records are maintained.
  • Carrying out testing and sampling of occupational exposure to noise, air quality etc


  • A background in chemistry, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent with commercial Health & Safety experience.  
  • Pro-active approach to Health & Safety and ability to lead by example to assist in the continuous improvement of safety culture
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills demonstrated by the ability to write clear and concise procedures and reports.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office suite of programmes
