Post-Doctoral Researcher - Cambridge, UK
3 year fixed term contract
Based at NIAB, Cambridge, UK, we are looking to recruit a talented post-doctoral geneticist to support BBSRC-funded projects including partners in the UK and Brazil. The post-holder will be required to undertake genetic analysis of quantitative traits in wheat genetic mapping populations (association mapping panels and multi-parent advanced generation intercross – MAGIC – populations) using SNP markers derived from arrays or genotyping-by-sequencing (GbyS).
The successful applicant must have a PhD in plant genetics, quantitative genetics, or related subject area, preferably with experience in analysis of next generation sequencing data for genetic marker mining. In addition, experience in performing genome wide association scans, bioinformatics, Unix, R, and crop molecular genetics and genomics is desirable, together with a scientific publication and presentation record.
A proven ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential, as are good communication skills. Working with partners at the University of Essex (UK) and Embrapa-Trigo (Brazil), the post will require travel within the UK and aboard.
The starting salary is in the range of £26,981 to £40,471, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
