He/she will work on drug discovery projects focused on epigenetic targets, primarily in oncology. Specifically, the candidate will be expected to design, develop, and execute experiments that include new target validation, identification of biomarkers, elucidation of mechanism of action, developing and running assays for cell based screening and compound profiling.   Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Independently design, plan, and execute scientific experiments.
  • Analyze and interpret scientific data, troubleshoot, and suggest new directions.
  • Conduct established assays to confirm hits from primary screens and support SAR
  • Develop, trouble-shoot, and optimize new cell based functional and biomarker assays.
  • Design and develop small molecule library screens.
  • Accurately maintain written reports and organize data.
  • Present projects in team, department, and project review meetings.
  • Independently review current literature pertaining to oncology, epigenetics, transcriptional regulation, and related assays.

  • Qualifications

    • In-depth knowledge of cancer biology. Familiarity with cancer stem cells and epigenetic mechanisms is highly preferred.
    • Experience in drug discovery.
    • Experience in developing and running cell-based assays, analyzing screening data, and contributing to hit confirmation efforts.
    • Experience in molecular and cell biology techniques including cell culture, transfection and transduction techniques (overexpression and silencing), viability assays, functional/phenotypic assays, real time PCR, immunoblotting, and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays. Experience with ChIP-sequencing is a plus.
    • Proficient in the development of stable cell lines. Knowledge of CRISPR technology is preferred.
    • Experience in immunocytochemistry is a plus
