Associate Director, Clinical Research Manager

A new role, exclusive to ProClinical, has arisen with on of our key clients - a leading pharmaceutical company is hiring for an Associate Director, Clinical Research Manager for their regional office. The Clinical Research Manager will have a significant impact on how the client can deliver country-specific trial commitments and objectives in Switzerland. As a customer-facing role, this position will build business relationships and represent the Swiss affiliate with investigators, functional outsourcing partners and other external partners and therefore have a significant impact on country-level customer relationships.

Main tasks include but are not limited to:

· Accountability for the performance for assigned protocols in a country in compliance with ICH/GCP and all relevant policies and regulations

· Pro-actively drive/track execution and performance of deliverables/timelines/results to meet country commitments, requiring strong collaboration with local Country Operations roles as well as other departments within the company like Medical, Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacovigilance

· Coordinate and align Clinical Research Switzerland, the regional and broader organization

· Lead and guide Clinical Research Associates (CRA) through study protocols and ensure study compliance Forecast country resource needs and serve local business needs and ensure quality and compliance for assigned protocols in the country

· Responsibility for collaboration and relationship management with investigators for insourced and outsourced studies, with functional outsourcing vendors and other external partners

· Responsibility for clinical trial education to sites, and acts as the country POC for programmatically outsourced trials for assigned protocols. In collaboration with CRD, represents the Swiss affiliate in Pharma industry issues and in seeking influence in external R&D environment.


University degree (MSc or comparable) in a relevant Life Science discipline; advanced degree (MD, PhD or comparable) is beneficial

Required skills and experience:

· At least 5 years of experience in a relevant role in Clinical Research, such as Clinical Research Associates (CRA), Clinical Project Manager etc.

· Documented experience with clinical trial planning, (site) management and metrics

· Excellent understanding of local regulatory environment to weigh pros and cons of key decisions with input from manager

· Strong communication and leadership skills (scientific and business) and proven ability to coordinate and lead local teams to high performance

· Excellent organizational and negotiation skills with both internal and external groups

· Strong independent decision making and capability to oversee important activities relevant to clinical research activities in the country

· Demonstrated ability to identify problems, conflicts and opportunities early and lead, analyse and prepare mitigation plans and drive conflict resolution; gain trust quickly from other parties in negotiations and have an excellent sense of timing

· Team player with proven ability to motivate a team and who likes to work cross boarder

· Skillful negotiation in tough situations with both internal and external groups; settle differences with minimum noise; win concessions without damaging relationships; be direct and forceful as well as diplomatic

· Excellent oral and written German and English language skills; additional local language skills are advantageous
