Business Development Manager - Clean Technology - Oxfordshire - £52-60k plus bonus and excellent benefits

Our client is part of the UK Atomic Energy Authority and is one of the world`s leading fusion research laboratories. Their scientists and engineers are working with partners around the globe to develop fusion as a new source of clean energy for tomorrow`s power stations.
They have a rare and outstanding opportunity for a motivated business development manager who will contribute to their growth by using knowledge of technology and science to take embryonic ideas to first engagement, and progress them to contract realisation. You will enjoy a high level of autonomy in this client facing internationally visible role.
You will build and develop existing relationships and grow new business opportunities for the organisation. This is a new position which has the potential to provide a successful and rewarding career in a technically exciting and diverse market place.
The successful candidate will have proven experience of business development coupled with a sound engineering / science background and an aptitude to develop business.
You will need the flexibility to travel internationally, sometimes at relatively short notice, to attend various marketing events, conferences and customer or collaborator locations.


*Proven track record of finding business opportunities and turning them into successful business activities in a technical /scientific market place
*Higher National Diploma / Degree or equivalent in a relevant science or engineering discipline
*Commercial business development experience involving European collaborations Entrepreneur comfortable with ambiguity and risk
*Networking, both internal and external, coupled with experience working with people with different cultures/languages
*Delivery focussed coupled with experience of working to tight/fixed deadlines
*Credibility in business confidentiality and in commercial terms of business
*Good interpersonal skills
*Diplomatic and patient

* Project delivery and management in a scientific market place
* Experience in the successful preparation of H2020 proposals
* Knowledge and experience of UK legal [contractual] framework
* Knowledge and experience of EU [contractual] framework
* Knowledge and experience of negotiating and operating a range of contract models
* Technical proposal writing skills

Special Requirements
International travel approximately 20% of time
