Downstream Processing Scientist - Monoclonal Antibodies - Chromatography Development - Protein Purification - GMP - Permanent - Iceland - £30-50k + Relocation Assistance + Benefits

Due to continued & rapid expansion a biopharmaceutical company situated in Iceland currently requires experienced Downstream Processing Scientists to join their manufacturing team. Their Downstream Processing department is responsible for the development of scalable, pharmaceutical-grade production processes for Biosimilar Monoclonal antibodies using mammalian cell lines as a production platform. Novel technologies are used to make sure that the processes are cost-effective, so that the Biosimilar can be produced in large quantities at low costs. These processes must be safe, reliable and scalable. They are implemented in a GMP production facility for the production of clinical batches and scaled-up for commercial production. All activities are performed in close collaboration with other departments.

As a pivotal member of the team you will need to be motivated to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment. Using small and medium size chromatography and cross flow filtration systems you will work in a team, which is responsible for designing and executing experiments to characterization and optimization of the company's current and future processes and documentation of the results. Results are evaluated together with the senior Scientist/Team leader. Beside experimental activities also general lab tasks and technical support to manufacturing facility are also part of the function. The company have a strong focus on continuously improving their (working) processes, to which you will also expected to contribute.

As a minimum you will hold a BSc. Level qualification in an appropriate scientific subject with demonstrable downstream processing experience gained within a manufacturing environment. Training in (bio) process, Biochemistry or comparable studies.
Practical experience with Chromatography (not solely HPLC) is essential. Experience with AKTA lab systems and Cross flow experience is desirable.
You must also show the ability to work accurately, flexibility, show initiative and be a team player. A creative mind set and a can-do attitude is also key for this position.
