We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced industry scientist to join our Epigenetic Center of Excellence. The successful candidate will have a well-documented background of scientific expertise in epigenetics with a high interest in drug discovery. He/she will work on drug discovery projects focused on epigenetic targets. Specifically, the candidate will be expected to design, plan and execute biochemical studies that include assay development, screening and mechanism of action studies for identifying and profiling development compounds within the area of epigenetics.
The candidate must be highly motivated, innovative and a strong team player. Excellent time management and organizational skills, strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. The qualified candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability for creative thinking and problem solving.
Ph.D. in Biochemistry with at least 6 years of relevant work experience, biotech or pharmaceutical experience, preferred.
This position requires a PhD in biochemistry, solid enzymology skills, at least 6 years of productive research experience in epigenetics at the postdoctoral level, as evidenced by an excellent publication record. Previous experience in the biopharmaceutical industry with successful record on project impact and compound progression will be a plus.
Relevant technical skills:
- Strong epigenetic background and understanding of transcriptional regulation
- Advanced understanding of enzymology and reaction kinetics
- Characterization of enzyme inhibitors and mechanism-of-action studies
- Experience in developing robust enzyme assays and miniaturization for high throughput screening
- Experience with FRET, SPR, and mass spectroscopy is highly desirable
- Analysis of both biochemical and cellular structure-activity relationships
- General awareness of drug discovery and development process
- Ability to write invention disclosures, technical reports, protocols and scientific publications
- Ability to engage with industry and academic collaborators
