Ink Laboratory Technician - Digital Printing - Permanent - Cambs - £Comp.

We are currently seeking an Ink Laboratory Technician to join an expanding team that is delivering revolutionary digital printing technology into the marketplace and to lead the way in industrial digital printing systems for the packaging industry.

This role will involve supporting the ink development team in the preparation of specialised inks from laboratory scale through to manufacture.


*Preparing and filtering inks from pigment dispersions.
*Carrying out analytical measurements on samples of dispersions collected during milling operations.
*Coordinating ink production for internal and external customer.
*Contributing to other areas of ink team work, including supporting the miller of pigment dispersions through setting up, operating and cleaning bead mills and working closely alongside fellow scientists.
*Ensuring the smooth operation within the laboratory.

The successful candidate will have:

*Degree qualified in Chemistry (or similar field of study)
*Hands on laboratory experience, and/or experience in working a production environment where inks or other fluid formulations are prepared
*An ability to carry out hands-on lab procedures in a methodical, careful and safe way, following standard procedures when required
*Capability and enthusiasm for learning new skills. Training will be provided in all aspects of the job
*Basic competence with standard IT packages, including Microsoft Excel and Word
*Good numerical skills, an ability to record observations and measurements for sharing with colleagues
*Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, where priorities may change at short notice
*Good verbal and written communication skills; the ability to communicate and interact effectively with colleagues at all levels
*Proactive, self-motivated and resourceful with ability to work effectively in teams in a focussed industrial research environment.
