St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital has an opening for a nurse to serve as a Clinical Research Associate in the Department of Radiation Oncology. This exciting position will involve overseeing pediatric clinical trials, hence radiation oncology experience is preferred.
Responsibilities include interaction with patients and their families and the management of specific aspects of clinical trials such as obtaining patient informed consent, reporting adverse events, monitoring study databases, processing research samples, preparing regulatory reviews and protocol submissions, maintaining essential study documents, and leading protocol investigator meetings. Clinical research associates work directly with the departments research and information technology teams and staff in the radiation oncology clinic, including a team of experienced radiation oncology nurses and nurse practitioners.
The Department of Radiation Oncology at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital is the largest and busiest pediatric radiation oncology facility in the world. Research in the department is entirely focused on pediatric radiation oncology with an emphasis in neuro-oncology, musculoskeletal tumors and pediatric solid tumors. The department conducts its own trials developed by radiation oncologists and radiation physicists that focus on the development of new methods of targeting, delivery and response assessment using photons and protons to treat childhood cancer.
The department has collaborations with basic, translational, and clinical investigators in a variety of cancer center programs and is responsible for the evaluation of radiation therapy performed on institutional clinical trials at collaborative institutions. The position includes a significant commitment to interaction with faculty and staff creating opportunities for learning and professional growth and development. This is a permanent position that does not require research grant support.Minimum Education:
Graduation from a school of nursing is required.
Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of clinical and/or research experience required.Required Credentials:
Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure Non-Compact state.
Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
Certification in clinical research from the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) or the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) must be obtained within three (3) years of assuming the position.EEO:
