An exciting opportunity is available for a leadership position at Weill Cornell Medicine, where we are committed to scientific discovery based on innovative research using emerging biomedical technologies. To support these research efforts, the Weill Cornell Medicine Core Laboratories Center (CLC) offers a coordinated array of cutting-edge biomedical technologies, expertise in their applications, technology testing and development, as well as educational workshops, training and consultation to the university's research community and to outside investigators.

The Assistant Dean for Research Resources reports directly to the Associate Dean for Research of the Medical College and is responsible for oversight of the CLC facilities. The CLC currently provides resources and services for genomics and epigenomics, proteomics and metabolomics, flow cytometry, imaging (e.g., confocal microscopy, multiphoton microscopy, electron microscopy, high content screening, optical CT, ultrasound, MRI, and PET), nuclear magnetic resonance, and synthetic chemistry. The Assistant Dean translates research service needs into strategic plans and leads their implementation, working closely with core facility directors, faculty and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities include meeting with faculty and other members of the research community to assess research resource needs, and advising the Associate Dean for Research regarding ongoing faculty needs and emerging trends related to research resources. The Assistant Dean will also initiate development of new cores, recommending strategies and tactics to grow and integrate core facilities, including investment in research infrastructure, faculty projects, and staff.

The successful candidate is expected to have at least 3-5 years experience running one or more core facilities or similar structures, with a proven track record of leadership in that area. Expertise and experience in biomedical technology and administration of core facilities including financial management are required, in addition to outstanding interpersonal skills for interacting with researchers and administrators at all levels.

The Assistant Dean is an appointed faculty position, with rank appropriate to previous experience. The position includes a competitive salary and the generous benefits package available to faculty of the College, with opportunities for advancement and promotion. Applicants from Academia, Pharma, or other relevant industry partners are welcome. Weill Cornell Medicine is located on Manhattan’s upper east side, a collaborative partner within the Tri-Institutional scientific corridor, including Rockefeller University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and affiliated with the New York Presbyterian Hospital and the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Interested applicants should send a single PDF file containing: 1) a cover letter; 2) a Curriculum Vitae; and 3) the names and contact information of at least three referees to: arv3001@med.cornell.edu. Evaluation of applications by an interdepartmental search committee will commence on October 30, 2016, and applications will be considered until the position is filled.
