Staff Scientist - Therapeutic Gene Editing

Our world-renowned Hematology Department has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Scientist in the Tsai Group. In this role, you will focus on defining and improving CRISPR-Cas gene editing technologies for therapeutics, with an emphasis on both technology development and clinical translation. This is a unique opportunity to integrate state of the art genomic approaches and novel gene editing techniques to develop transformative strategies to improve therapeutic outcomes for patients with catastrophic non-malignant hematological diseases.
You will have the opportunity to interact with experts from diverse backgrounds and collaborators from around the world. St. Jude is among a few institutes in the world with the capacity to interrogate complex biological questions through our in-house high performance computing facility, pediatric genome repository, and Computational Biology Department comprised of a diverse team of experienced bioinformatics scientists and talented software engineers. In this position, you would be provided with extensive training will be provided in genome engineering, protein engineering, genomics, and high-throughput techniques.
To succeed in this position, you are expected to have a strong molecular and cell biology background, with an emphasis in molecular cloning and transfection of mammalian cells. If you have additional experience with genome editing techniques, next-generation sequencing and analysis, protein purification, automated liquid handling instruments, or laboratory management, you are strongly encouraged to apply. Computational experience in a UNIX environment working with genomic data is a plus.
A Ph.D. in an appropriate scientific field is required
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant and productive postdoctoral research associate experience is required
