The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) safeguards animal and plant health for the benefit of people, the environment and the economy. As a Scientific Project Manager, you’ll play a vital role in successfully managing a portfolio of the scientific research and surveillance projects as well as playing a significant role within the National Emergency Epidemiology Group (NEEG) which forms to investigate and control outbreaks of exotic disease.
By managing project delivery and controls, you’ll allow our scientists to focus on delivering their science. Your challenge will be ensuring individual projects are delivered on time, on budget and to customer and quality specifications, whilst maintaining a big-picture overview.
You’ll have experience of successfully managing projects in a similar role, so you’ll be highly organised and adept at managing multiple simultaneous projects. You’ll also be confident using project management techniques and tools, and accustomed to working to high quality standards. As a decisive, collaborative and an exceptional communicator, you’ll have developed a talent for producing concise, fit-for-purpose scientific minutes. This will be supported by a relevant biological degree or equivalent experience. Flexibility is also essential, particularly during outbreaks, when out of hours work could be required..
In return for your dedication, we’ll support your ongoing development with opportunities for training. You will also enjoy excellent Civil Service benefits including a pension.
