A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans to research the effects of centrally acting drugs in Drosophila melanogaster. The candidate will perform experiments involving neuropharmacology and behavioral experiments in Drosophila to determine how certain agents modulate brain pathways to influence behaviors. This research will require the formulation and testing of hypotheses, work with Drosophila melanogaster, molecular biology assays, genetic experiments, behavioral experiments, and data analysis. Responsibilities also include designing and implementing research studies, collecting and analyzing data, preparing manuscripts for publication and presentation, procurement and ordering of supplies and equipment, and assisting with general maintenance of the laboratory. Qualifications: Ph.D. in a basic or health related science field. MD or DDS may also be acceptable.
