We are currently recruiting for a Histology scientist working in our Special Pathology Services department in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. It is a 12 month contract working full time hours. Specific emphasis of this role is centered on the support of stand alone Histology studies, in particular tissue cross-reactivity (TCR). The Histology scientist will be principally involved in the preparation of cryosections of both human and non-human tissue samples for use on TCR studies. Other specific duties will include the immunohistochemical staining of cyrosections for TCR studies using both commercial antibodies and client test articles. The Histology scientist is expected to follow a comprehensive training program to acquire general and specific responsibilities in relation to Histology. These responsibilities will include a comprehensive range of operational procedures and the awareness of productivity and quality parameters. They will be expected to develop and maintain proficiency in appropriate selected competencies and by doing so provide support to Covance Non-clinical Safety Assessment (NSA) and non-NSA areas over a wide range of cellular pathology functions.
- Typically a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical/Biological Sciences or equivalent but experience may be substituted for education.
- Preferably Membership or Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science.
- Participation in an approved Continuing Professional Development programme at a level commensurate with experience, education and professional body membership.
Ideally looking for someone with previous experience in operational histology and it would be very beneficial with extensive experience in specialised cellular pathology procedures but not essential. We could also consider someone with relevant experience through their degree or from a work placement.
