A fresh perspective on what science can do
AstraZeneca is investing in a new, state-of-the-art Global R&D Centre and Corporate Headquarters on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
Ground-breaking science and effective teamwork lie at the heart of AstraZeneca’s work and the new premises will foster an open, supportive and collaborative culture that will accelerate the development of new medicines. It’s this focus on science and collaboration that we believe makes a difference to patients. Scientists here will have the opportunity to work in cross-functional teams at the forefront of biopharmaceutical research, as well as with world-renowned academic research institutions, pre-eminent hospitals and cutting-edge biotech companies.
AstraZeneca will focus its research in Cambridge on three therapeutic areas – cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, oncology, and respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity – and look to build on a pipeline of medical breakthroughs.
In oncology, AstraZeneca has been developing cancer drugs for over 40 years, which have significantly increased survival rates for cancer patients around the world. Cambridge will become their global centre for oncology research. AstraZeneca is also one of only a handful of companies conducting small molecule, large molecule and immuno-oncology research – and soon they will be doing it all under one roof.
As AstraZeneca continues to push the boundaries of medical science at their new premises, a wealth of opportunities will open up. Whether working in the labs or Biometrics, in Projects or Regulatory, talented, ambitious scientists will have the chance to contribute to AstraZeneca’s research, drug development and commercial growth… and explore exactly what science can do.
